News from The Australian Media
Forum#2: 3rd July 2003
Next Generation TV - The New Battleground
Media Man Australia promoted this event in an online
capacity on www.mediaman.com.au
in addition to attending the forum.
Greg
questioned Kim Williams,
FOXTEL CEO, on the future of FOXTEL ITV (Interactive
TV), given that Greg saw the demise of the ITV service
whilst working for Optus ITV. Greg also raised the
extent of subscriber TV illegal STU's (set top units),
known as "dial a Mexican", in America. The
transcripts and full answers to these questions and
more will be available on this website in the coming
weeks.

The
forum was a heated affair, with insults flying back
and forward between the panelists and audience.
One
gets the feeling that the battle between between Australian
free-to-air networks and subscriber TV is far from
over. Stay tuned for updates.
Thank
you to the staff at The
Australian, for making this event and coverage
possible.
