WWF
Thanks to Danny for sending in the following:
I was listening to the "Sports Zone" a radio program on Sydney talkback station www.2gb.com hosted by Andrew Moore and they interviewed Vince McMahon.
- Vince indicated that he was having a good time in Australia
- Talked about the show that they will be having on August 10th
- Indicated that the smackdown roster would be used by stating that the Rock, Hulk and HHH would appear. He also stated that HHH would defend the title.
- The joked about Stacy being his personnel assistant, and that she was back at the hotel waiting to take care of business.
- They spoke about William Regal's visit to Australia last year.
- They talked about how WAFT has promoted sports entertainment, and how it was a mix of soap opera, action and drama.
- They spoke about how the whole McMahon family was involved in the business as in the story lines and wrestling, not just back office. Vince joked that he was 57 years old and he was reaching the end of his in-ring work. They joked that Stacy would help him back at hotel feel younger.
- Andrew asked Vince about his forays into other venture such as XFL and Ultimate Fighting. Vince said that they were now concentrating more on the wrestling business.
- They spoke about the history of the company from when Vince bought the company from his father and how it has become the so big. Vince made an interesting comment indicating that he had expected it to happen faster than it actually took.
- Andrew asked Vince who was the best wrestler he had seen in the last 20 years. Vince baulked a bit on the question finally saying that Hulk had helped take wresting to where it is, and was now back in the WWF, but there were other wrestles before and other to come. He really did not answer the question.
- Andrew spoke about how as a child he had spent time growing up in Greenwich, Connecticut. Vince said that he was not particularly fond of Greenwich, but preferred Stanford, the headquarters of the WWF.
- They lastly spoke about other promotions that had been to Australia, how they were second rate and did not live up to expectations. Vince agreed and said that they would put on a show.
Overall, it was an excellent interview.
btw, the WWF's visit to Australia at this particular time seems quite odd, I wonder if it would have anything to do with the fact that the WWA is prompting their dates in Australia which end this weekend with a PPV.
